Back to School

Fall has arrived and we are going back to school. Ryan is starting on his MBA at ISU. He has classes a couple nights a week in Idaho Falls. Accounting and Economics... sounds serious to me! He is also taking a math class via independent study. I am really excited for him as well as proud of him for taking on this challenge.

Not to be out done I enrolled in some continuing education courses through BYU-Idaho. Knitting and Digital Photography. My schedule may not sound as daunting as Ryan's but have you seen how sharp those knitting needles can be? I am taking the courses with Lyndi and am excited to have a buddy and someone to practice with!

Luke tells me that he will study up by watching his Baby Einstein DVD and learning new cooing sounds. Truth be told he will probably learn and master more skills this fall then either Ryan or I. He is growing so fast and is becoming quite the talker.

Biscuit never was one to be left behind and has been surfing the net for new tricks to learn.

Ryans First Post...

Lukers' 1st Ballgame

So bloggy blog readers, Annalyn thinks I am too picky with the blog, hence the delay. But really I am not, as I think most of the people who view this blog are friends of hers. My crowd tends to stay away from things that involve reading, or anything to cerebral for that matter, (kidding Mom). Something my associations MIGHT be interested in right now due to its dominance on the television, are the Olympics. Especially if the game show "Wipeout" were incorporated as an actual event. Alas, it was not even considered..this year!!! I would make due with the marathon coverage if they re-instated some past events I've heard about, what do you think of some of these? All are actual past events according to Google, worlds foremost authority in reliable information. Listed in order of how bad I want them to come back.

1.

Tug-of-War

tug-of-war at the Olympic GamesThe tug of war event was held at the Olympics from 1900 to 1920. Tug-of-war was always contested as a part of the track & field athletics program, although it is now considered a separate sport. This may seem like an unusual Olympic sport, but in fact it was part of the Ancient Olympics, first being held in in 500BC.

In the modern Olympics, the tug-of-war contest was between two teams of eight. One team had to pull the other six feet along in order to win. If after 5 minutes no team had done this, the team which had pulled the most was declared the winner.

2.
Club Swinging 1904

I couldn't find a description for this but I think it is almost better if you "Mental Picture" this one. Just imagine your mortal enemy staring you down from inside a ring of fire.

3.
Rope Climb 1896, 1904, 1906, 1924, 1932

In my dads version of this event, he not only climbs the rope, but once he gets to the top he attatches a swing for good measure! And yes Callie, that really is Dad.

4.
Dueling Pistol 1906

5.
Weightlifting
One Hand 1896, 1904, 1906

As I look at the list, it seems like 1906 was THE year to go to the Olympics! Why was I born in 1978? Why Why why...

Well folks? A dissapointing blog entry? before you judge me in the comment section, let me try to sway your votes a bit by showing off some of the handsome chromosomes I passed down. 23 of my finest.

During a visit to The Bensons down in Orem, cousin Anna met Luke for the first time.

I don't think he made a good impression.

And then there was a blog...

Blog, blog, blog... Thats all we hear these days. While we are not sure how long this whole internet fad is going to last, we have enjoyed reading all of the interesting posts from our friends and family. Its a good way to catch up. So without knowing where to begin, how about a bit of catching up?

Our first family picture. Luke was born May 22nd. He had a pretty bad case of pneumonia and stayed in the hospital for two weeks. Ryan wanted them to give him X-Ray vision but I was happy with him just having 20/20. So far so good.

Of course, if you know us at all you would expect to see Biscuit. This is how he felt when we brought Luke home from the hospital.

Updates on our family wouldn't be complete without mentioning our "Quad Squad". This spring we finally got around to getting the headstone.

We also had the opportunity to bless him this month. Thanks to everyone who made the trip up! Three generations of Rasmussen trouble.
I teach primary and when I have sharing time Ryan takes Luke. This is the picture I found on his phone after he said Luke had been "fussy" and couldn't go to elders quorum. Hmm...

And lastly for our summary, what we look like waiting for Ryan to come home from work! We miss you daddy!
