The girl that gave me Cooties

Today is another one of those days that I really appreciate Annalyn. On top of taking care of Luke, teaching CPR/First Aid, and dealing with me, she still comes down on Wednesdays and helps me at work. It might not sound like much but it is harder than it sounds. So...

Reasons why Annalyn is the best.

10. When she told a story about someone leaving their child alone while out getting cigarettes she said " The lady left to get some smokes." Like it was something she does all the time. She is so down with smoking she uses the term "Getting some smokes." I find this very funny.

9. Sometimes she lets me pick her out clothes. Doesn't really question my taste. Next shopping trip I plan on getting her a tube top and a mini-skirt, or this outfit...

8. She gave me this, drooling problem and all.

7. Can't forget these...

6. In her last post she posted a picture of me on my "hog". She pretends to give me a hard time, but she has been awesome about letting me ride this guilt free.

5. She got up in the middle of the night last night and let Biscuit out at 3:00 am

4. She lets me laugh at my favorite movie, even though it is her least favorite movie.

3. She loves to learn, and is good at it. Really she is the smartest girl I know. She improved our gene pool quite a bit.

2. She worries about her friends and what they are going through. Adam and Lisa, we were both thinking about you these last few months. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Their baby Gabe was born, and passed away this month.

1. She tells me she loves me at least once a day. I need reminding, and she married me before I had to resort to this...

Annalyn, Thanks for being my wife. I love you and I want everyone to know it. Besides, my girlfriend Lupe only reads Spanish blogs, so we're cool.

R. U. M. P. S.

So we were watching "How It's Made" the other night. It was showing us how they make crayons. They started talking about developing new colors and how some colors had to be retired. A box of crayons is not the same as it once was.I was shocked and upset to find out that the ever handy raw umber and maize colors were retired! Maybe I have just been out of touch with the coloring world for too long but I had no idea. Had I known I would have joined R.U.M.P.S. aka The Raw Umber & Maize Preservation Society. They protested the retirement of these colors in person at the crayola factory! Apparently Crayola learned their lesson and now let the people decide which color gets the boot. (Not to worry it looks like Burnt Sienna was spared the boot!)
Luke's Reaction to the loss of Raw Umber

Crayola is not the only who is changing over the years. This past weekend I got to meet up with Courtney and we reminisced about the good ole days of freshman orientation and badly taped ankles. Now it is easy to see what our topics of conversation are...

It was so fun to see her, Sam and Troy. We keep trying to convince them (and everyone else we like) that Idaho is the place to be. During our trip to Utah, Luke tried the Idaho sales pitch out on Carter. Unfortunately Carter wasn't convinced anymore than the Buers were.

We'll just let this picture of Ryan's latest motorcycle ride do the talking.
Could life get any better than this?

I will end with my latest pictures of the Luke. He is growing and changing so much. He slept a record 11 hours the other night. It was heaven. He is starting to figure his hands out and is starting to grab at things. We have gotten a couple of giggles out of him. We are working to get more giggles and less drool. Unfortunately when I got out the camera he wouldn't smile but as soon as I put it away he would grin ear to ear. I guess Ryan has the touch to get a smiling picture of the little guy.

P.S. Here is Ryan's latest favorite commercial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ImyK29QLs_A

Back to School

Fall has arrived and we are going back to school. Ryan is starting on his MBA at ISU. He has classes a couple nights a week in Idaho Falls. Accounting and Economics... sounds serious to me! He is also taking a math class via independent study. I am really excited for him as well as proud of him for taking on this challenge.

Not to be out done I enrolled in some continuing education courses through BYU-Idaho. Knitting and Digital Photography. My schedule may not sound as daunting as Ryan's but have you seen how sharp those knitting needles can be? I am taking the courses with Lyndi and am excited to have a buddy and someone to practice with!

Luke tells me that he will study up by watching his Baby Einstein DVD and learning new cooing sounds. Truth be told he will probably learn and master more skills this fall then either Ryan or I. He is growing so fast and is becoming quite the talker.

Biscuit never was one to be left behind and has been surfing the net for new tricks to learn.

Ryans First Post...

Lukers' 1st Ballgame

So bloggy blog readers, Annalyn thinks I am too picky with the blog, hence the delay. But really I am not, as I think most of the people who view this blog are friends of hers. My crowd tends to stay away from things that involve reading, or anything to cerebral for that matter, (kidding Mom). Something my associations MIGHT be interested in right now due to its dominance on the television, are the Olympics. Especially if the game show "Wipeout" were incorporated as an actual event. Alas, it was not even considered..this year!!! I would make due with the marathon coverage if they re-instated some past events I've heard about, what do you think of some of these? All are actual past events according to Google, worlds foremost authority in reliable information. Listed in order of how bad I want them to come back.

1.

Tug-of-War

tug-of-war at the Olympic GamesThe tug of war event was held at the Olympics from 1900 to 1920. Tug-of-war was always contested as a part of the track & field athletics program, although it is now considered a separate sport. This may seem like an unusual Olympic sport, but in fact it was part of the Ancient Olympics, first being held in in 500BC.

In the modern Olympics, the tug-of-war contest was between two teams of eight. One team had to pull the other six feet along in order to win. If after 5 minutes no team had done this, the team which had pulled the most was declared the winner.

2.
Club Swinging 1904

I couldn't find a description for this but I think it is almost better if you "Mental Picture" this one. Just imagine your mortal enemy staring you down from inside a ring of fire.

3.
Rope Climb 1896, 1904, 1906, 1924, 1932

In my dads version of this event, he not only climbs the rope, but once he gets to the top he attatches a swing for good measure! And yes Callie, that really is Dad.

4.
Dueling Pistol 1906

5.
Weightlifting
One Hand 1896, 1904, 1906

As I look at the list, it seems like 1906 was THE year to go to the Olympics! Why was I born in 1978? Why Why why...

Well folks? A dissapointing blog entry? before you judge me in the comment section, let me try to sway your votes a bit by showing off some of the handsome chromosomes I passed down. 23 of my finest.

During a visit to The Bensons down in Orem, cousin Anna met Luke for the first time.

I don't think he made a good impression.

And then there was a blog...

Blog, blog, blog... Thats all we hear these days. While we are not sure how long this whole internet fad is going to last, we have enjoyed reading all of the interesting posts from our friends and family. Its a good way to catch up. So without knowing where to begin, how about a bit of catching up?

Our first family picture. Luke was born May 22nd. He had a pretty bad case of pneumonia and stayed in the hospital for two weeks. Ryan wanted them to give him X-Ray vision but I was happy with him just having 20/20. So far so good.

Of course, if you know us at all you would expect to see Biscuit. This is how he felt when we brought Luke home from the hospital.

Updates on our family wouldn't be complete without mentioning our "Quad Squad". This spring we finally got around to getting the headstone.

We also had the opportunity to bless him this month. Thanks to everyone who made the trip up! Three generations of Rasmussen trouble.
I teach primary and when I have sharing time Ryan takes Luke. This is the picture I found on his phone after he said Luke had been "fussy" and couldn't go to elders quorum. Hmm...

And lastly for our summary, what we look like waiting for Ryan to come home from work! We miss you daddy!
